Our Lady of Perpetual Help Gears Up For $3M Renovations

The year-long construction will improve OLPH's School and Church.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help has commenced its year-long construction project that is estimated to cost more than $3 million, The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Renovations will be done to parts of the church and school over the course of four phases, according to the Sun-Times. The church raised more than $3.2 million in 2010 through donations to pay for the projects, Nancy Schwider, director of church operations, told the paper.

Workers are currently "installing an elevator for people with disabilities in the church’s south entry vestibule," while other improvements include:

  • 241-space parking lot
  • reconstructing walkways from the lot to the south entrance with brick pavers
  • new wood flooring, bleachers, storage and lighting for the parish gymnasium
  • new signage and landscaping are
