Honey & Arsenic: The Poetry of Alter Esselin
In honor of National Poetry Month, Joseph Esselin will present poems by and a short film about his father, Yiddish poet Alter Esselin. Born in Russia, Esselin came to the U.S. as a young man. His poems are about loneliness, poverty, and persecution, but are said to have an underlying strength that defies their inherent sadness. An open mic opportunity follows the reading.
