GLENVIEW,
Ill. (Jan. 21, 2014) Turmeric Indian Restaurant (2300 Lehigh Avenue, Glenview, across
from the train station in the Glen) announced it has added more than 20
offerings to its menu of dishes from across India, and it is open for lunch
11:30 – 2:30 (closed Tuesday) offering a business lunch Monday, Wednesday and
Thursday and buffet Friday, Saturday and Sunday; dinner is served 5-9pm Monday,
Wednesday and Thursday and 5-10pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Naan was added to the Tandoori Breads

Special Dosa, a thin crepe made with rice and lentil and Turmeric’s special
chutney.

vegetarians, the Channa Masala, Turmeric’s version of this classic chickpea
vegetable dish and

Josh, a popular homemade lamb or chicken stew with Northern India and Pakistani
origins.

Halwa, a traditional Punjabi dessert dish made of carrots and milk served warm
or cold.



Turmeric’s specialties headline Biriyani dishes, wholesome
meals offering a choice of meat or vegetables and basmati rice cooked in
aromatic spices, flavored with rose water and garnished with mint and cilantro.



It also offers Pulao, rice dishes served with vegetable,
pea or Jeera, which is made with rice and cumin seeds.



Turmeric owner Sasi Paidi said of the family-operated
restaurant, “We are fortunate to have been well accepted and decided to add
more items to our menu so our customers can enjoy a wider choice of tastes.”



In addition to expanded evening hours, Turmeric offers a
business lunch and weekend buffets to familiarize its neighbors about the art
of Indian cuisine from 11:30 – 2:30 pm. “Indian cooking is an amalgamation of
ingredients,” Paidi said, “and we welcome everyone to come and enjoy the best
of its cuisine.”



 



She added, “We also started a networking lunch event
called Midweek Networking. It is held the last Wednesday of each month and has
become a power partnering lunch bringing together business professionals.



Paidi’s brother started Turmeric in North Carolina in
2007 and she moved it to Glenview at the end of 2012. It provides many South
Indian dishes that other Indian restaurants in the area do not serve.



 Turmeric also offers
catering and Ravinia picnic baskets in season, working to find the perfect
presentation for each customer, whether for a company picnic or family outing.
