Skin of Steel's Rock Out Melanoma Battle of the Bands
Skin of Steel, a Glenview-based nonprofit focused on melanoma research and advocacy, will host its first major fundraiser to benefit a national Melanoma Tissue Bank network with a branch at Northwestern University's Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chicago. The "Rock Out Melanoma Battle of the Bands" fundraiser will be held on March 8, 2014 at Fields Volvo in Northfield from 7:30 pm to midnight. Featured bands include local favorites, Who's Your Daddy?, PopRocks and Loose Change.

Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in the world, claiming one life every hour. Skin of Steel's mission is to make Chicago a center of excellence for melanoma research and treatment. Launching the first national Melanoma Tissue Bank at four key medical institutions including Chicago's own Lurie Cancer Center will provide the critical tissue and bioinformatics necessary to bring melanoma research to the next level, improve treatment options and eventually, find a cure.
