Unions in America

Workers
were being exploited in America even as we proclaimed our Declaration of
Independence. The journey toward effective organizing was bloody and painful
and often at odds with the opinions of much of the American population, as well
as both State and Federal governments. Yet working people understood that they
could only achieve more just and fair conditions and wages by showing strength
through solidarity. Historian Gary Midkiff will review and analyze the union
movement in our country and the debt we owe to people such as Samuel Gompers
and Walter Reuther. Registration is $18 member; $22 non-member.
