Viva Vivaldi - A Family Friendly Concert!

Coming up next for our One Tree, Many Branches series we feature “Viva Vivaldi”; the Virtuosi Chicago chamber orchestra, directed by Antonio Vivaldi.  The same Vivaldi that lived in Venice around 300 years ago you ask?  Why yes indeed.  Tony made his first “reappearance” at Ascension about 7 years ago and he is back by popular demand to relate some of the inspiration and stories behind his composition of the “Winter” and “Spring” movements from “The Four Seasons”.   This concert features these works in addition to works by Brahms and Ginastera, which Mr. Vivaldi has graciously accepted to include in his repertoire.  Children are most welcome to attend and will even be invited at one point to SIT IN the orchestra to experience what it is like to play in a symphony orchestra first hand!  Virtuosi Chicago is comprised of members of Ravinia’s resident ensemble, The Lincoln Trio, and some of their most prodigious students. Playing the role of Antonio Vivaldi will be renowned Chicago-based composer and Ascension musical director, Mischa Zupko.

“Viva Vivaldi” takes place on Saturday, March 1 at 4:30pm at Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 460 Sunset Ridge Rd, Northfield, IL and is free and open to the public.  Free will offerings are appreciated.  If you have additional questions, please call 847-446-8335 or visit www.ascension-church.org  and select Concert Series to see information on this concert.
