The public will determine the winning burger by voting on Meathead’s Facebook page OR by purchasing the burgers at the restaurant.  To vote, go to facebook.com/meatheadsburgers and click ‘like’ under the Spartan Burger (Glenbrook North) or Titan Thunder (Glenbrook South).  Meatheads Burgers & Fries will contribute $250 to the Northfield Township Food Pantry in honor of the winning team as well as 10% of the proceeds from each Burger Battle burger purchased during the contest.

“Our Burger Battle shows how people can work together to help others, no matter who they are or where they come from,” says Chris Szafranski, co-captain of Glenbrook South’s varsity baseball team.  Brett Synek, co-captain of the Glenbrook North varsity baseball squad, adds, “Burger Battle is a fun way to help our schools and community address a very serious problem.”

“Being active contributing members of the communities in which our restaurants are located is a fundamental element of our business model,” said Tom Jednorowicz, managing partner of Meatheads.  “Although we take this responsibility very seriously we like to have as much fun as possible in the execution.  The Burger Battle idea was generated by the student athletes and we’re thrilled to be along for the ride in support of a great cause.”

“Every month more than 1,000 of our neighbors and friends turn to the Northfield Township Food Pantry for perishable and non-perishable groceries,” says Pantry Coordinator, Mary Lou Kratochwill.  “Hunger is not acceptable in our community so we are encouraged by these young people as they step up to the plate to help make a difference.”

Titans Booster Club board member, Rick Pullano, says, “asking our teams to get involved in the community is our Booster Club’s way of reminding athletes that life is a team sport.   We’re very proud of the creative way Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North’s baseball programs are working together to help others.  That’s the sweetest victory of all.?
