Firefighter Chili Cook Off Pits Glenview Against Northbrook

The second annual chili cookoff takes place Feb. 8 and benefits Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook.

One Glenview firefighter says he plans to bring the heat against Northbrook this year in the second annual Firefighter Chili Cook Off.

"Northbrook won it last year. I'd like for Glenview to pull an upset this time," 20-year Glenview firefighter Tim Jacks told the Glenview Announcements.

Jacks told the Announcements he has been testing different chili recipes for years, and counts jalapeno peppers and cumin as two of his special ingredients.
The chili cookoff benefits Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook and takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Youth Services, 3080 West Lake Avenue in Glenview.
In addition to sampling chili (of course), participants can also participate in a six-round trivia contest and enter to win raffles. Chili tasting admission is $10; trivia admission for a team of six to eight (including chili tasting) is $200. Tickets can be purchased online, by calling 847-724-2620 or at the door.
