Titans swim for a good cause

Last month, about 70 Titan Swimmers participated in the Hour of Power philanthropy to raise awareness and money for sarcoma research.

The Hour of Power had swimmers completing a one-hour, “all-out, leave-it-in-the-pool” practice of continuous relays in remembrance of Ted Mullin, a Glenview native who lost his battle with sarcoma in 2006. The GBS swimmers raised $1850 for sarcoma research.

The event was preceded by a speech by Rick Mullin, Ted’s dad, who spoke his son’s love and passion for swimming and for being an all around great teammate.

According to their website, over the past five years, the Hour of Power has raised over $265,000 for the Ted Mullin Fund in support of sarcoma research at the University of Chicago with nearly 8,000 participating athletes.

GBS swim coach is Kim Kiraly. For more information on Hour of Power, visit tedmullinfund.org.
