Glenview's Thomas Hicks Died Sunday, Funeral In December

Thomas “Terry” Thackery Hicks was born in Evanston Hospital on February 24, 1940 to Thomas and Jean Hicks. He lived in Barrington, IL the first three years of his life and then moved to Inverness, IL, where he grew up.

His favorite sport was baseball, and he spent many hours on the baseball field, with a great group of fellow players. He attended Palatine Township High School and graduated in 1958. He then attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

He graduated from DePauw University in 1962. He joined the Air Force Reserves, where he specialized as a medic. Terry was a Publisher’s Representative (sold advertising space in medical publications) from 1962, until his retirement in 2005. He lived in Chicago following his college graduation, where he met his wife Sally Staub in 1972.

They married in 1975 and moved to Glenview, IL a year later, where they have lived for 36 years. Terry and Sally have two sons, Brian and Todd.

Terry was a member of Inverness Country Club for many years, where he learned to perfect his golf game. Terry was a Little League coach and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his kids. Terry will be remembered best for his wonderful sense of humor and the many friends that he had in all facets of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, and two sons Brian (Sara) and Todd, his grandsons Owen and Liam; his brothers Don (Elaine) and Randy (Krista) sister-in-law Margaret Stewart; brother-in-law Wilson (Janet) Staub and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Glenview Community Church 1000 Elm Street, Glenview, IL 60025.
