Community Corner

The 2013/2014 Board of the League of Women Voters of Glenview kicks off its new season.

The Board of the League of Women Voters of Glenview kicked off the 2013/2014 year with a successful voter registration and bake sale at the Glenview Farmers Market.  The coming year will be packed with high priority issues that the GLWV will be addressing.  These issues will include meetings with our districts representatives.  Meetings have already occurred with State Representative Laura Fine and the staff of Senator Mark Kirk.

The League will be involved in an in depth study of various aspects of the national farm bill, the ongoing study of the various communities Boards and Commissions with attention to the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act, as well as participation in the National Voter Registration on September 24, 2013. The League supports the Fair Tax Amendment and is working with coalition partners to provide presentations to the public to get the Amendment through the General Assembly and onto the Nov. 2014 ballot.
