5 Things to Know About Your Community Editor

Patch Community Editors are here to help you -- our users and bloggers -- get the most from the site!

At Patch, there are a lot of people working hard to make sure we’re offering the best of everything -- professionally reported news, a place to connect with your neighbors and local businesses, and a blogging platform to share your own voice with the community.

One person you may not be familiar with is your Community Editor. Patch CEs are here as a resource for readers who want to post their pictures, ideas and events on Patch. They’re here to make your experience the best it can be.

Here are a few things you should know:

  • CEs love interacting with you on social media.  They will often post simple questions to a Patch Facebook page in efforts to learn more about your town. Where are your favorite spots to hang out? Where are the dangerous intersections? When you see a post signed by your CE, jump in an let them know what you’re thinking!
  • One of the best parts of working at Patch is reading the blog posts our users contribute to the sites. We enjoy what you have to say about just about anything, and many posts, especially those that come from the heart, stick with us. If you’d like to highlight something you think we may have missed, you can always reach out and let us know!
  • CEs work on a team with your home Patch local editor. That’s why you will sometimes see several voices contributing to a Patch website or Facebook feed.
  • Our CEs make an effort to comment on your blog posts because we want you to know how much we appreciate your writing. If you want to help create an even more engaged community on Patch, offer up an encouraging comment of your own for a fellow blogger or ask a question to spur more conversation. Half the fun of writing is knowing that others are reading, right? And once you start talking to your neighbors on Patch, you’ll see a fun thing start to happen. They’ll start talking to you too. And it’s very gratifying.
  • And a last tip from our CE team: believe that you have something to add to the conversation (and make sure you’re playing by our full terms of use here). Don’t be afraid to take a risk. Are you concerned about how cars interact with bicyclists on the road? Write about it. Think your child's school is overcrowded? Share a blog post. Just want to thank someone who made a difference in your life or someone else’s? Go for it!
