Arlington Heights Fire Department Open House

Get hands-on with fire equipment at Oct. 13 event

As part of Fire Prevention Week, which starts Sunday, the Arlington Heights Fire Department will be hosting an open house for the community.

You’ll get a chance to get a close-up view of firefighting equipment and apparatus at the Arlington Heights Fire Department’s Open House, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13.

The open house will be held at station #2, 1150 N. Arlington Heights Road.

It is being held as part of Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 7 to 13.

The theme for Fire Prevention Week this year is “Have 2 Ways Out.”

At the open house, you can hear about this topic, as well as learn about fire prevention tips.

You’ll also learn about firefighting equipment and how it’s used.

For those who like hands-on experiences, you’ll get a chance to get into a fire truck, and watch demonstrations on what firefighters are trained to do.

The fire Safety House also will be on display.

For the kiddos, there will be face painting, games and an appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog.
