BB Gun Shooter Shatters Car Window

The information in this blotter was reported by Glenview Police on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014. Where arrests are included, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the Glenview Police Department:

Rear Window Shattered With BB Gun at Shermer and Central
A complainant reported that someone shattered the rear window of their vehicle with BB or pellet gun as they were merging into traffic northbound on Shermer Road at Central Road on Thursday, Jan. 16, according to police. The estimated loss is $500. 

Vandal Damages Drain Pipe, Backs Up Basement
A resident of the 0-100 block of Parkview Road reported that someone damaged the drain pipe for the sump pump outside their home and stuffed paper into the pipe, causing the water to back up into the basement and ruin the carpet, according to police. The incident took place sometime overnight between Jan. 10 and 11, police reported. The estimated damage is $2,000.

Identity Thief Makes Unemployment Benefits Claim
A Glenview resident reported that someone used their identity to make a claim for unemployment benefits with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), according to police. When the resident contacted IDES, they learned that the agency had already issued one check and sent it to an address in Glendale Heights. The resident placed a watch on their credit accounts for unauthorized activity.

Unauthorized Radio Caller Uses Police Line
Glenview Public Safety Dispatch reported that someone conducted five unauthorized radio checks on the Niles Police band and one on the Niles Police band, according to police. Several incidents of unauthorized communications have been reported in the past, police said. 

Customers Take Items From Shelves, Try to Get Refund
Two people removed items from the shelves of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road on Wednesday, Jan. 15, according to police. They then attempted to return the merchandise for a refund. Both individuals were told they were not allowed to return to the store, police said. 

Tire Slashed On Lehigh Avenue
A resident of the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue reported that someone slashed their car tire on Wednesday, Jan. 15, according to police. The estimated loss is $160. 

Car Window Smashed With Landscape Boulder
A resident of the 3100 block of West Lake Avenue reported that someone used a landscape boulder to shatter the rear window of their vehicle while it was parked overnight on Friday, Jan. 17, according to police. The estimated loss is $500.
