Bloodhound, ‘Melanie,’ Sniffs Out Glenview Bank Robber

Following an armed robbery Monday afternoon, the 4-year-old canine tracked the culprit back to an apartment complex near the Glenview State Bank branch, 2610 Golf Rd.

When a was robbed just after noon Monday in unincorporated Glenview, sheriff’s deputies called in Melanie, a 4-year-old bloodhound.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the bank, 2610 Golf Road, recorded video surveillance of the robber, who said he had a weapon and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no reported injuries, the story said.

On the scene, Melanie gathered the robber’s scent, the Tribune reports.

“She is just a rock star,” Frank Bilecki, spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, told the Tribune.

Melanie followed the scent to an apartment complex less than two blocks away, according to the Tribune, and took officers right to unit 205, where the robber, a 20-something male, has been staying.
