Business Owner Slapped in Face By Competitor

In a separate incident, a business was bilked out of $200 in a 'quick-change scam.'

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Suspicious Incident

A resident reported a male called and left a message in which the caller stated the resident needed to contact them back regarding an IRS issue or the police would arrest the resident. The resident believed the call to be a scam and did not call back. 

A resident reported a woman called them and stated they were with the government and the resident received a $9,200 grant for being a good citizen. The caller stated the resident would need to call a certain number to retrieve the money. The resident did not apply for any grants and did not call the number given as they believed the call was a scam.

Business owner slapped

The owner of a business in the 4300 block of Regency Dr. reported that the owner of a competing business came to their business and slapped them in the face at 1 p.m. June 11.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone broke the driver side window of a vehicle while it was parked in the 800 block of Railroad Ave. between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. June 12. The estimated damage is $100.

‘Quick-change scam’

An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Rd. reported they were the victim of a “quick-change” scam June 13 at 6 p.m. A male customer conducted repeated small purchases with large bills requesting various types of denominations back as change. In the end the employee was scammed out of $199.50. 

Theft

A resident of the 500 block of Harlem Ave. reported someone stole their cellphone from their home on June 9. The estimated loss is $200.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone broke the windshield and one of the wiper blades on a vehicle while it was parked in the 1100 block of Depot St. June 12 between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. The estimated damage is $350.

Repeat disorderly conduct

A resident of the 2300 block of Iroquois Dr. reported a male came to the door and pounded on it June 12. The male also looked through some of the home’s windows and the mailbox. He left the area in a silver four-door vehicle. He had done the same thing a few weeks earlier.

Residential Burglary

A resident of the 1300 block of Bonnie Glen Ln. reported someone entered their home and ransacked the master bedroom, taking about $1,500 worth of jewelry on June 13 between 9:17 and 9:37 a.m.
