UPDATE: Case of Glenview Dispatcher Caught Naked on Camera Moves Toward Resolution

Hearing set for March 25 on all seven charges against Steven Delatorre.

The case of , the Glenview police, fire and public safety dispatcher allegedly caught on camera running naked through his Chicago condominium building, moved closer to resolution at a status hearing March 18 in the Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago.

Originally arrested on two counts of public indecency while working  at the Glenview Police Station on Feb. 1, immediately after appearing in court to answer the first two. He now faces seven misdemeanor claims of public indecency. 

At Friday's hearing, Delatorre attorney Joe Roddy asked Judge Anthony Calabrese to hear all seven cases at once at 9 a.m. March 25 at the same court house.

Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Matthew Heinlen objected to continuing the cases because three witnesses were present and ready to testify. 

“We can make [Delatorre] an offer on all cases he may be happy with,” Heinlen said. Roddy asked for additional information from Heinlen and pleaded with the judge to hear all seven claims together.

Heinlen asked Calabrese to excuse the witnesses from appearing March 25. “They are excused,” Calabrese said. “Stay in touch with them. Make sure they have your phone number and you know how to find them,” he further instructed Heinlen. 

Should a complaining witness fail to appear at a scheduled hearing the case could be dismissed, according to Calabrese. When the judge removed the requirement the witnesses appear March 25, he eliminated the threat of dismissal. 

Roddy explained when all seven cases come before the court March 25, either a trial date will be set, the case will be further continued or the judge will schedule a 402 conference. According to Roddy a 402 conference is a judge’s attempt to resolve a case.

Delatorre will be in court at 9 a.m. March 25 in Branch 29, 2542 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, on all charges. He remains on administrative leave from his job with the according to Deputy Glenview Village Manager Chris Clark. 

Delatorre was first arrested after the landlord at his apartment complex in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood obtained camera footage of Delatorre running naked through the building.

Management at his 160-unit apartment building at 1134 W. Granville Ave. received several complaints during the last year and a half. They were unable to make a definitive identification until he was recently caught on camera, according to a representative from the building who asked Patch to remain anonymous.

“There have been reports of Delatorre running around naked and terrorizing female residents,” the source said. The source also said Delatorre’s lease has been terminated.

The by Chicago Police Detectives Karen La Palermo and Barbara Healy. That completed the investigation according to La Palermo.

“He was placed in a lineup,” she said. “As a result of positive identifications five additional charges were made.”

Should Delatorre be convicted of three of the seven counts against him, any future arrests for public indecency would be a felony according to La Palermo. All existing claims are misdemeanors.
