Firefighters Tear Up Dominick's Roof

The Glenview fire department trained at the empty Dominick's before it's demolished.

Glenview firefighters part of this week on the rooftop of the former Dominick's at 1020 Waukegan Road, using axes and power tools to create holes in the roof, according to the village website.

The holes would be used for ventilation in the event of a "real" fire there.

The firefighters also trained in simulated fire conditions, breaking down interior walls and doors. Training on buildings before they are demolished offers firefighters the best opportunities for "real life" training.
