Police Blotter: Stolen Jewelry, Car, Laptops

Reports from this week show Christmas decorations taken, identities stolen and vehicles burglarized.

The following reports were provided by the Glenview Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt. 

Residential Burglary

A resident in the 1600 block of Glenview Road reported Dec. 10 that someone entered their home, and stole three laptops and several pieces of jewelry. The amount of loss is valued at approximately $4,850.

A resident in the 700 block of Arbor Ln. reported Dec. 11 that someone burglarized their home and took clothing. The reported loss is $500.

A resident in the 700 block of Forest Rd. reported that some time between Dec. 15 and Dec. 16 someone burglarized their home. Entry was made by forcing open the home’s rear door. Two rooms were ransacked and a ring was taken. The estimated loss is $1,321.

A resident in the 800 block of Long Rd. reported Dec. 16 someone burglarized their home. Entry was made by forcing open a basement window. Several rooms in the house were entered. It is unknown if anything was taken.

Unlawful Use of a Credit Card

Someone reported on Dec. 10 that they lost their wallet and its contents at a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Blvd. A short time later they called their credit card companies and found a purchase for $1,900 was made over the internet to an unknown company.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Someone reported that on Dec. 11 someone stole their Honda Civic from a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Rd. The estimated loss is $3,500.

Criminal Trespass

A representative of a business in the 1700 block of Glenview Rd. reported Dec. 11 that a male was in the business causing a disturbance and refused to leave. The male was located and given a trespass warning. 

Attempt Burglary

A representative for a condominium association in the 2600 block of Summit Dr. reported that sometime on Dec. 11 or Dec. 12 someone tried to force their way into the building. A pry tool was used causing damage to a door. The reported loss is $250.

Criminal Damage

A complainant reported someone scratched their vehicle while it was parked at a residence in the 3200 block of West Lake Ave some time between Dec. 13 and Dec. 13. Damage is estimated at $100.

A resident in the 500 block of Elm St. reported someone damaged several strands of Christmas lights at their residence between Nov. 30 and Dec. 13. The loss is valued at $60.

Theft

A resident in the 2300 block of Glenview Rd. reported that some time between Dec. 8 and Dec. 10 someone stole several strands of holiday lights off the bushes in front of their house. The reported loss is $25.00.

Someone reported someone stole their coat and car keys from a coat rack at the Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. on Dec. 12. The loss is valued at $110.

Identity Theft

A Glenview resident reported Dec. 12 that someone used their name and social security number to purchase approximately $490 worth of clothing over the internet from an unknown store during Feb. 2012.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A resident in the 3200 block of Sanders Rd. reported that on Dec. 16 someone entered their vehicle while it was parked in the lot outside their home and took a cell phone, two computers, and $300. The estimated loss is $1,250.
