Glenview Police Take Part in ‘Operation Lifesaver’

Glenview police hope to increase pedestrian safety at rail crossings.

As part of “Operation Life Saver,” Glenview police recently stationed at various crossings at the Glenview Metra station to enforce ticketing for those who walked around barriers or ignored signals, Chicago Tribune reported.

Operation Lifesaver, a nonprofit that aims to increase pedestrian safety at rail crossings, was founded in Glenview in 2005, a year after a Metra train killed Victor Olivera, 11, while he was riding his bicycle across Glenview tracks, Chicago Tribune reported.
