Glenview Priest Charged with Felony Theft

The Saints Peter and Paul Church's priest faces charges that he stole more than $100,000 from his former church.

Father James Dokos has officially been charged with felony theft, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune. He faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $25,000 fine.

A Glenview priest facing allegations that he stole more than $110,000 from a private church trust to fund fancy dinners and shopping trips has been suspended from his duties, according to an article in TribLocal.

Father James Dokos, a priest at the Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Glenview, has been under investigation in Milwaukee for a possible theft from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church there, where he was employed before coming to Glenview. Last week, The Milwaukee Country District Attorney’s office said it plans to file felony charges against Dokos, TribLocal reports.

Members of the Glenview church report being thrilled at his removal, which they had sought previously when the allegations came to light but were denied by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, TribLocal reports.
