Glenview Priest to Be Charged with Theft From Previous Church

Rev. James Dokos leads Glenview's Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church. The alleged theft took place at his previous church in Milwaukee.

Prosecutors have decided to charge a Glenview priest with theft nearly a year after a criminal investigation was launched into whether he was stealing from a church trust fund at his previous employer in Milwaukee, TribLocal reports.

Father James Dokos, a priest at the Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Glenview, has been under investigation in Milwaukee for a possible theft from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church there, where he was employed before coming to Glenview.

Dokos will be charged with felony theft for misappropriating more than $10,000, the TribLocal article says. A Tribune investigation last year showed that Dokos wrote himself checks totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
