Glenview Rape Suspect Seeks Bond Change

Accused of giving herpes to 13-year-old, Allen Giron will request home confinement at Jan. 31 hearing.

A hearing to modify the $100,000 bond set Jan. 15 for --an 18-year-old Glenview resident charged with felony criminal sexual assault last week--will be held at 9 a.m. Jan. 31 in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court.

Giron, who appeared in court Jan. 18 with his attorney Steven Goldman, remains incarcerated in the Cook County Jail’s protective custody section, according to court officials.

Giron is accused of having two sexual encounters with a 13-year-old girl and giving her herpes, according to a Jan. 16 news release from Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart. Police were originally notified by the victim’s sister.

The sibling told police that her sister had “at least two sexual encounters” with Giron and had recently been diagnosed with herpes by a doctor.

The first incident took place Nov. 28 in the women’s restroom at a fast-food establishment in Niles and the second occurred Dec. 6 at Giron’s Michal Todd Terrace home in Glenview, according to the news release.

Police took the 13-year-old for counseling at Hoffman Estates’ Children’s Advocacy Center, officials said. Authorities later took Giron from his home on Jan. 15 to police headquarters in Maywood for questioning.

Giron provided detectives with “a written statement detailing the sexual encounters,” officials said. Family members were also interviewed.

Currently a senior, Giron hopes to modify the terms of his bond to allow monitored home confinement with the ability to attend school and go to work, Goldman said.

“He has no record and is no danger to the community," Goldman said in expressing his hope the judge will grant the request. "There is no reason not to give him home confinement.”

Goldman wanted an immediate hearing but the prosecutor was unwilling to proceed with less than the required notice.
