Glenview Resident Scammed Out of Hundreds of Dollars

Driveway light smashed

A resident in the 3200 block of Ronald Rd. reported sometime overnight on Feb. 23 someone broke a glass driveway light which was near the street. The estimated damage is $150.00.

A resident in the 1600 block of Waukegan Rd. reported that sometime overnight on Feb. 23 someone broke the front passenger side window of their vehicle while it was parked in front of their home. Several items were taken from inside the vehicle for an estimated loss of $450.

Suspicious Incident

On Feb. 24 at 11:15 p.m. a Glenview resident reported the driver of a green Honda followed them throughout Glenview. The resident drove to a cul-de-sac off Glenview Rd. and parked. The driver of the other vehicle turned around in the cul-de-sac and when the car drove by the resident, the driver stared at them. They did not recognize the driver whom he described as a Hispanic man between 30-35 years old with short black hair. 

Harassing voicemail

An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Greenwood Rd. reported a male left a harassing voicemail on their phone extension Feb. 26 at 9:30 a.m. The voice sounded like a younger male but the employee did not recognize the voice.

Car trouble scam

A resident reported on Feb. 15 a male called and asked if they knew who he was. The resident replied they thought they did. The caller requested the resident wire transfer $844 to him because he was downstate and had car trouble. The resident wired the money and the next day he requested $1,400 more for additional repairs. The resident became suspicious and eventually contacted the friend they thought they wired the money to.  The friend stated they just got back from a trip and never called.
