Glenview Teen Charged With Retail Theft, Illegal Gun Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glenview Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft, Unlawful Use of Weapon

On Aug. 15, Joshua D. Rathod, 18, of Glenview, was arrested on the 1900 block of Tower Drive and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID, retail theft and hit and run, according to police.

On Aug. 13, a resident on the 1400 block of Sequoia Trail reported receiving a phone call in which the caller said the resident's grandson was in trouble and they needed to send $2,200.00 via Western Union to Trinidad so their grandson could be bonded out from jail, according to police.  Their grandson was home and fine, and the call originated in of Texas, police say.

On Aug. 14, a resident on the 1000 block of Terrace Lane reported seeing a van parked in their driveway with the engine running, according to police. They called 911 and walked out to the vehicle, where a man walking with a limp appeared from their neighbor’s driveway, police say. When asked what he was doing, the man hurried into the van and fled southbound, according to police. 

The van was described as a white mini-van with a large dent on the driver side rear door, police say. The neighbor’s vehicle, which was parked in their driveway on the 1000 block of Terrace Lane, had both front doors partially open but nothing was missing, according to police.
