Home Ransacked, $35K in Jewelry Stolen

A suspicious man also told a resident not to worry about trucks in the neighborhood in this edition of the Glenview police blotter.

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Residential Burglary

A resident of the 2100 block of Swainwood Dr. reported between 9:50 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 5, someone entered their home through a rear door, ransacked two upstairs bedrooms and stole several pieces of jewelry. The estimated loss is over $35,000.

Suspicious Incident

A resident of the 1200 block of Huber Ln. reported at 6:30 p.m. May 5 a white man in his mid-20s, with medium brown hair wearing a blue polo shirt rang their doorbell. The man stated he was replacing windows in the neighborhood and they should not be concerned with seeing trucks in the neighborhood. He would not give the resident a business card when they requested one. The man left in an unknown direction and the resident did not see him get into a vehicle.

Burglary (motor vehicle)

A resident of the 2900 block of Central Rd. reported between 10:30 p.m. May 5 and 2:15 a.m. May 6 someone entered their unlocked car while it was parked in their driveway and stole a GPS unit. The estimated loss is $150.

Someone stole several items from inside a vehicle while it was parked overnight in front of a house in the 100 block of Elm St. May 4. The owner believes the vehicle was locked although no signs of forced entry were observed. The estimated loss is over $800.

Dispute

An employee at a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Rd. reported at 2 p.m. May 1 a male and female customer requested $750 loaded onto a bank card. The employee told the customers the store is mandated to only load $500 and they became upset. Once an officer arrived and the customers read the form the employee had, they loaded $500 on a bank card and left.

Criminal Defacement to Property

A Park District employee reported someone spray painted playground equipment at Rugen Park between April 27 and May 2. Estimated damage is $45.
