IRS Impersonation, Customer Dispute Over Bill

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glenview Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A resident in the 3900 block of Carousel Dr. reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. The console and glove box were ransacked. It’s unknown if anything was taken. The incident occurred between June 15 and 16.

Someone broke into a vehicle while it was parked in the 1800 block of Tower Dr. on June 16 while the car’s convertible top was down. A jacket and ring were taken, worth $1,000.00.

The owner of a business in the 3100 block of West Lake Ave. reported they did work on a customer’s vehicle. After a dispute over the cost of the repairs the customer took the vehicle without making payment on June 17. The reported loss is $850.

Theft

Someone stole a tablet computer while the owner was at a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Blvd. n June 17. The tablet, worth $300, was left briefly unattended in a shopping cart. The incident occurred on 06/17/13. 

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A resident in the 3900 block of Michael Lane reported someone burglarized their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway between June 15 and 16. A briefcase, camera, and $200 in cash were taken.

Theft

A phone, worth $300, was stolen from a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Ave. while left unattended on a store display on June 17.

Criminal Damage

A Glenview Park District employee reported damage at Cole Park. An exterior door to a bathroom was damaged allowing access to the bathroom and several fixtures in the bathroom were vandalized between June 17 and 18. Estimated loss is $225.00.

Theft by Deception (Attempted)

A Glenview resident reported June 19 that they received a call from a male who said he was with the IRS and that they owed $1,500 in back taxes. The caller told the resident that to avoid immediate arrest they needed to wire transfer him the money. The caller’s number registered to a possible address in Charlotte, NC.
