Mysterious Hand Seen Closing Screen Door

Two mailboxes also exploded shortly after the 4th of July.

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Exploding mailboxes

A resident of the 3600 block of Liberty Ln. reported a loud explosion and saw their neighbor’s mailbox in pieces at 2 a.m. July 5. The estimated loss is $100.

A resident of the 3800 block of Linneman St. heard an explosion at 2 a.m. July 5 from their front yard and later noticed their mailbox damaged.  The estimated loss is $100.

Criminal Damage – Government Supported Property

Someone shattered two windows on the field house at Catherine Crowley Park between 4 p.m. July 4 and 9 a.m. July 5. The estimated damage is $300.00.

Criminal Defacement

A resident on July 5 discovered graffiti on the sidewalk and fence along the walkway leading from the baseball fields east of Westbrook School to the 3000 block of Independence Ave. 

Suspicious Incident

A resident of the 3800 block of Rugen Rd. reported seeing a hand push closed their storm door after their dogs barked at the door at 11:30 p.m. July 5. They saw a figure running away but provided no further description. Nothing inside the residence was disturbed. 

Retail Theft

An employee for a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Rd. reported being battered during a retail theft in which several bottles of alcohol were taken at 5:45 p.m. July 6. 

Theft

Someone stole a mountain bike while it was left unlocked in front of a home in the 1600 block of Greenwood around 8 p.m. July 6. The estimated loss is $300.

Deceptive Practice

A resident reported July 7 paying $10,000 to have a man repair and paint an antique vehicle. The repairs started in July 2013 and were to be completed by May 2014. In May 2014 they received a letter stating their vehicle had been towed to a facility in February by the man the resident contracted repair work with and storage charges totaled $7,000. The resident paid the storage fees and got their vehicle back. No work was ever done on the vehicle and parts from the carburetor were missing.

Theft

An employee of a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Ave. reported someone stole their bicycle from the rear of the business when they left the bicycle unattended for a few minutes at 12:45 a.m. July 7. The estimated loss is $200.

Criminal Damage to Property

An employee for a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Rd. reported someone scratched the driver side of their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 7.  The estimated damage is $200.

Suspicious Incident

A resident of the 2100 block of Startford Ln. reported their daughter was followed from their home by a white SUV July 7. The daughter said the vehicle looked like a Jeep Commander. The vehicle followed her out of Glenlake Subdivision and through ITW’s property. The daughter never saw who was driving the vehicle.

Residential Burglary

A resident of the 1500 block of Monterey Dr. reported they left their overhead garage door open from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Someone entered the garage and removed a blue youth bicycle and helmet. The estimated loss is $250.
