Neighbor Disputes Draw Police

Several thousand dollars' worth of jewelry was also stolen in a burglary on Spruce Drive in this edition of the Glenview police blotter.

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt:

Burglary (Motor Vehicle)

A resident of the 1000 block of Shermer Rd. reported someone entered their locked vehicle overnight May 20 while it was parked in front of their home. They discovered the passenger side window rolled all of the way down and several items removed from the vehicle. The estimated loss is $100.

A resident reported receiving suspicious text messages from a phone number they do not know May 21. They called the number twice and the first time a young female answered the phone and then hung up, the second time a young male answered and then hung up. The number, which checked out of Chicago, was called by the officer who left a message not to call or text the resident.

A resident of the 2500 block of Pick Ln. reported two males pulled into their driveway in a white pickup truck May 22 at 3 p.m. One male stated they just bought a house in the neighborhood and heard the resident needed tuck-pointing work done on their chimney. The resident told the man they did not and the man requested to go into their home to look for leaks. The resident told the men to leave and they did.

A resident believes they were the victim of identity theft.  Information about someone else is showing up on their accounts.

A resident reported May 25 receiving several phone calls that came up 101 on the caller ID. When the resident picks up the phone, the call disconnects after 30 seconds.

Harassment by Telephone

A resident reported May 21 that they received several phone calls telling them that they won a cash prize and requested they meet the caller at a bank to pay a fee for the prize. The resident knew the call was fraudulent and wanted to report the scam to the police.

Two employees of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Rd. reported May 22 that a male called the several times asking for information on a customer. The employees told the male they could not release any information and the male became belligerent and threatened the employees. The victims did not wish to sign criminal complaints.

Assault

A resident of the 1900 block of Tanglewood Dr. reported May 21 that a neighbor assaulted them at their home. No complaints were signed and the neighbor was told not to have any contact with the resident.

Motor Vehicle Theft

An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Sanders Rd. stated a 2012 Cadillac with Maryland registration was leased to a resident of Maryland in April 2012.  The lessee violated terms of the lease and the contract was terminated. The lessee has not responded to phone calls or certified letters so the vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Sanders Rd. stated a 2014 Chevy Cruze with Georgia registration was leased to a resident of Georgia in 2013. The lessee violated terms of the lease and the contract was terminated in February. The lessee has not responded to phone calls or certified letters so the vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

Criminal Damage to Property (Auto)

An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Lake Ave. reported someone scratched their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot between 8:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 22. The estimated damage is $350.

Residential Burglary

A resident of the 2100 block of Spruce Dr. reported someone forced open a door to the home and stole several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry on May 23 between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

A resident of the 700 block of Forest Dr. reported between 6 p.m. May 23 and 10 a.m. May 25, someone entered their home and removed $155.  There were no signs of forced entry to the home.

Criminal Defacement

Someone spray painted graffiti on a wooden fence in the 1700 block of Greenwood Rd.

Unwanted Subject

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Depot St. at 5:15 p.m. May 24 for the report of an Unwanted Subject who was swearing and being loud at the train station. When spoken t,o the man admitted to yelling at someone who had called him a derogatory name.

Fire Investigation

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Woodlawn Dr. at 12:45 a.m. May 24 for the report of a Porto Potty on fire. The estimated damage is $500.

Neighbor Dispute

A resident of the 1700 block of Wildberry Ln. reported May 25 that their neighbor came over intoxicated and complained about noise. The neighbor was advised not to go to the resident’s home.
