Night of Sex and Booze Leads to Guilty Plea
Niles man must register as lifetime sex offender after an evening with a minor in a Glenview motel room.
A 21-year-old Niles man pleaded guilty to having motel room and four related misdemeanors in exchange for 60 days in Cook County jail and two years probation July 19.
was sentenced by Judge Garritt Howard in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie after he agreed to a plea bargain, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin. He could have received if he was convicted of the Class 2 Felony.

In addition to serving 60 days in jail—he is currently serving his term—and two years probation, Martinez must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Conklin told Patch.
Martinez was originally charged Feb. 27 after Glenview police discovered him at the on Milwaukee Avenue with an underage female. They learned of his whereabouts after stopping two male juveniles walking in the 4200 Block of West Lake Avenue at 3 a.m. that morning. According to police, Martinez had purchased alcohol for them that was consumed at the motel.

In additional to the sexual abuse conviction, Martinez also entered a guilty plea for one count of renting a hotel room for minors and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
