Police: Glenview Restaurant Owner Reports Hate Crime

The owner of a restaurant on the 900 block of Harlem Ave. reported receiving numerous harassing phone calls at the restaurant throughout December, police say.

The following reports were provided by the Glenview Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Criminal Damage

On Dec. 24, someone reported a fist-sized rock was thrown through the rear sliding glass door of a home in the 0-100 block of Parkview Ln., according to police. Reported damage is $1,050.00.

That day, a resident on the 3200 block of West Lake Ave. reported a piece of concrete was thrown through the sliding glass door of their home, police say. Reported damage is $1,060.00.

On Dec. 30, someone reported the glass window was shattered on a business on the 4500 block of West Lake Ave., according to police. Reported damage is $250.00.

Battery

On Dec. 25, someone reported being hit while at a business on the 1800 block of Waukegan Rd., police say. The complainant said they were punched in the mouth during a dispute with another customer of the business, according to police.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle Reports

On Dec. 24, an employee of a business on the 800 block of Milwaukee Ave. reported a customer’s vehicle had been burglarized, police say. Entry was apparently made by defeating a door lock and the car's radio, worth about $300.00, was removed, according to police. 

On Dec. 28, a resident on the 1500 block of Greenwood Rd. reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway and stole a GPS unit, police say. Reported loss is $125.00.

On Dec. 29, a resident on the 2600 block of Summit Dr. reported someone stole a garage door opener from their vehicle while it was parked at their residence, police say. Method of entry to the vehicle is not known and estimated loss is about $100.00, according to police. 

Motor Vehicle Theft

On Dec. 29, someone reported their vehicle was stolen from outside a business on the 9700 block of Milwaukee Ave., police say. The running vehicle was left unattended, according to police. It was recovered a short time later on the 900 block of Huber Ln., police say.

Hate Crime

On Dec. 29, the owner of a restaurant on the 900 block of Harlem Ave. reported receiving numerous harassing phone calls at the restaurant throughout December, police say. The caller repeatedly swears and uses racial slurs, according to police.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

On Dec. 28, at 1:30 a.m., Jaimie Gilbert, 24, of Glenview, was arrested on the 3800 block of West Lake Ave. and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence with BAC .08 or more, Improper Lane Usage and Speeding, police say. She was released on a $1,000.00 bond and her court date was set for Feb. 7, according to police.
