An early-morning explosion ins west parking lot has prompted closures at two area schools, Glenbrook South High School and Winkelman Elementary.

The 4 a.m. explosion was small, according to police, and the incendiary device was located in a remote area of the hospital’s parking lot. No injuries were reported and damage was minimal, police said.

The hospital is still open, but access is limited as officials—including the Glenview Police Department, The Cook County Bomb Squad and representatives from the Department of Homeland Security— investigate the incident further.

Both Glenbrook North and Field Middle School will remain open.
