Three Men Charged in Car Burglaries

Police say the men might be responsible for more than 100 car burglaries in Glenview, Park Ridge, Northbrook, Niles and Chicago.

Park Ridge Police have charged three men believed to be responsible for a rash of car burglaries in Glenview and around the northwest suburbs.

[Name removed], Nikolas Pena, 18, of Elmwood Park, and Michael T. Staples, 17 of Harwood Heights were charged with criminal trespass to motor vehicle and two counts of felony burglary to motor vehicle.

The men were charged after police answered a call of a vehicle burglary in progress on Nov. 16 in the 600 block of Courtland in Park Ridge. Police said the men are believed to be responsible for an area wide criminal car burglary operation.

After the arrest, investigators determined that the men might be responsible for more than 100 car burglaries in Park Ridge, Northbrook, Glenview, Niles and Chicago, police said.
