During a status hearing March 17 before Judge Garritt E. Howard in the Skokie Branch of Cook County Circuit Court, Ricco’s attorney Steven Weinberg asked Howard to allow his client to play for Camelot in the basketball tournament.

“Right now he’s only allowed to leave home to go to school,” Weinberg said. “It would be a violation of the conditions of his bond if he plays without the court’s permission.”

objected to the modification claiming Ricco’s bail should remain unchanged until the case is tried.

“There were reasons these restrictions are there,” Morris said. “Nothing should be changed."

After Ricco confirmed that he was part of the team and was not going as a spectator, Howard agreed to the modified bond.

“You are on the team?” Howard asked Ricco. “I’m only allowing this if you are going to play, not to watch."

Weinberg also told the court any pretrial motions he plans to file will be submitted to the court by April 20. Weinberg said he is still awaiting some information from the State’s Attorney’s Office. The parties will return for another status hearing at 9:30 a.m. April 20 in Room 206 of the Skokie Courthouse.
