Washington, Glenview Road Closures Begin Next Week

This month portions of Washington Street and Glenview Road will be closed on several dates while construction on the new library parking deck proceeds and the contractor lifts 85,000-pound concrete slabs into place.

The contractor will maintain as much access as possible to driveways during the periods of road closure. Here's the road map and detour plan.

Closures:

March 23-April 7:
Washington Street closed between Glenview and Prairie.

March 28-30; April 1:
Glenview Road closed between Harlem and Lincoln from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day.

Glenview/Greenwood Work Resumes

Spring is in the air, and that means work on the Glenview/Greenwood intersection has resumed. The contractor is restriping for necessary lane shifts, and will begin earth excavation for the new road base and curb. Beginning next week, new water services will be installed and installation of new road base and curbs will begin. The project is expected to be completed by June 2011.

Early Voting Continues

If you'd like check "voting" off of your to-do list before Election Day on Tuesday, April 5, take advantage of Early Voting! Cook County is offering this service at Village Hall, 1225 Waukegan Road, through Thursday, March 31. For more information, click .

Off-Street Parking Workshop Coming Up

If you're a commercial property owner or represent a property management company, mark your calendar for a Public Workshop & Comment Forum regarding proposed changes to off-street parking regulations, on Wednesday, March 23. There are identical sessions at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the , 2500 East Lake Avenue.

The Village needs your input regarding proposed amendments to current zoning requirements relating to off-street parking, which may include:

▪ Replacing off-street parking formulas with more modern, national formulas      calibrated to reflect Glenview development patterns.

▪ Basing the required number of parking stalls on a building's square footage.

▪ Establishing "shared parking" and "collective parking" requirements for compatible land uses within shopping centers or upon adjacent lots.
