PHOTOS: The 45th Annual Glenview Civic Awards

Community members honored for contributions to the Village.

Friday night at the , a handful of Glenview residents and one local hero from Highland Park were honored for their contributions to the community during the 45th Annual Glenview Civic Awards. The awards were conceived by Police Chief William Bartlett in 1967 to honor citizens of Glenview who made a difference in the Village with their outstanding community service.

There are four awards people may be nominated for: Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year, the Public Service Award, and the Public Safety Award.

Organizations and individuals in the community are encouraged to nominate people worthy of an award. A fifth award, the Special Committee Award, is decided by the Selection Committee who chose all award recipients.  The committee is comprised of individuals from each of the community groups who put on the event.

The Civic Awards is sponsored by groups including: American Legion Post 166, Glenview Chamber of Commerce, Glenview Lions Club, Glenview Women of Today, Kiwanis Club of Glenview/Northbrook, Navy League of the U.S.-Glenview Council, Optimist Club of Glenview, Rotary Club of Glenview-Luncheon, and Rotary Club of Glenview-Sunrise. This year, the Optimist Club handled hosting responsibilites, a duty rotated among the participant organizations each year.
