Closures Announced for Washington Street and Glenview Road

Construction of a parking deck at Glenview Public Library will require road closures in late March and early April.

The has authorized road closures near the as contractors build a parking deck facility west of the new library building.

  • According to a village report, Washington Street between Glenview Road and Prairie Street will be fully closed March 23 to April 7. 
  • Glenview Road between Harlem Avenue and Lincoln Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28, 29, 30 and April 1.

Village officials noted heavy materials -- some 14 feet wide, 60 feet long and weighing as much as 80,000 pounds -- will be used in the construction. For public safety, administrators recommended the road closures.

"The contractor will work with residents to maintain as much access as possible to driveways during the periods of road closure," the report stated. "The Glenview Road access to Olympia Plaza Shopping Center will be closed March 28-30 and April 1 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; however, ingress/egress will be maintained on Harlem Avenue. Village staff will assist by delivering notices and communicating directly with the residents and businesses during the project."

Village officials also noted the closures will be in effect during the week of spring break for most local schools, which should mean lighter traffic in the area.
