ComEd Details Effects of Summer Storms

A recent presentation released from ComEd highlighted three separate days of storms that wreaked havoc throughout northen Illinois. ComEd didn't include restoration costs, but details some of the efforts.

ComEd officials presented the update in Northbrook in late July at a public meeting . Monday night, ComEd had at a town hall in Glenview.
Swaney said a record-breaking 2.1 million ComEd customers have been affected by power outages caused by weather. According to ComEd, 35 percent of 18,709 Glenview customers were affected by the outages – making it one of the hardest hit municipalities. In total, Swaney said more than 800 crews were dispatched for restoration efforts in ComEd's coverage area.

- On June 21, two confirmed tornadoes touched down in Downers Grove and Mount Prospect at 8:31 p.m. and 8:48 p.m. respectively. in Glenview – as temperatures hovered around 90 degrees.
- Nine days later on June 30, a storm that brought . Approximately 1,800 lightning strokes were reported in ComEd territory.

"There's not really any lessons learned," she said of the ComEd presentation. "But there have been opportunities identified, as we looking to enhance our processes to make it better moving forward."
