District 34 Seeking $43.9 Million Property Tax Levy

Administration says amount is needed to fund 2011-12 fiscal year budget, and will hold public hearing next Monday night.

Glenview Elementary School District 34 notified Glenview Patch today in an e-mail that it intends to seek a $43.9 million overall property tax levy.

There will be a public hearing on the matter during the D34 regular board meeting, Monday at 7 pm.

The e-mail stated:

"It is the Administration’s recommendation that the Board of Education hereby approve the filing of the 2011 tax levy on equalized assessed value of property in District 34 with the County Clerk as follows:"

Education Fund                                $35,464,043

Tort Fund                                           $378,017

Operations/Maintenance Fund          $4,665,437

Transportation Fund                           $1,576,299

IMRF Fund                                          $925,276

FICA Fund                                           $963,220

 

Total:                                                  $43,972,292

 

According to the e-mail from D34 Executive Director of Communications and Strategic Planning Brett Clark, the amount is necessary. The e-mail also stated:

"Based on the financial projections discussed with the Board at the November 21, 2011 meeting the above tax levy is required to fund the 2011-12 fiscal budget. The above levy amounts will not be extended for loss and cost by the County Clerk as per previous action by the Board."
