Voting Is How This Country Makes Our Voices Be Heard

Voting is how this country runs and this is how we make our voices be heard.   To ensure that every citizen has an
opportunity to vote, the League of Women Voters of Glenview is working with the Cook County Clerk’s office to both train additional registrars and to staff Voter Registration Events.  The new voter registrars are from members of the League of Women Voters of Glenview, Wilmette and Evanston.  The intent is to have sufficient personnel to staff the Voter Registration Events.

The League of Women Voters has already set up two Voter Registration Events.  The first two are:

  •
Saturday, Feb 18 from 10-1 at the Glenview Park Center

  • Tuesday, Feb 21 from 4-8 at the Glenview Public Library

There are also possible dates for Registration to take place at Glenbrook South High School.  When these dates are set the League will release that data as well.

If you are a new voter just turning 18 years of age, a new resident of the community or a new citizen, these Voter Registration Events are your opportunity to ensure your   voice is heard.  If you cannot attend one of these events you may also utilize the pamphlet, Registering to Vote in Illinois, which describes the rules and procedures surrounding the voter registration process in Illinois. This pamphlet is available on line at www.elections.il.gov.  An individual may register to vote in Illinois if he/she is a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older on the next election day, and resides in the jurisdiction for 30 days prior to the election.

Illinois' residents may register in person at the office of the election authority, at Driver's license facilities, with deputy
  registrars
who are appointed in each jurisdiction (such as the events listed above), or via mail using the Illinois Voter Registration Application available in English and Spanish

Elected officials make decisions about things that are   important to you, including your job, your health care, your environment and your security. Voting is your chance to choose the decision makers and tell them what you want.  Make your voice heard on Election Day! Get Registered! Get Educated! Get out & Vote!
