Former State Rep. Coulson Honored by Village

Former GOP State Rep. Elizabeth Coulson of Glenview retired after 13 years in the Legislature.

recognized former state Rep. Elizabeth Coulson of Glenview at its regular meeting Tuesday, March 1.

Calling Coulson "exemplary" in representing the village and the 17th District in the Illinois House of Representatives, Village President Kerry Cummings presnted the former representative with a plague and engraved glass vase.

Coulson, a state representative since 1997, stepped down in 2010 after an unsuccessful primary bid to represent the 10th District in the U.S. Congress. Democrat Daniel Biss  to fill the vacancy.

Coulson "did an outstanding job on behalf of Glenview and the home district," Cummings said.

The former representative said she was proud and humbled to be honored by the trustees.

"I'm really looking forward to being a Glenview resident again and not having to go to Springfield," Coulson added. "We have a great community here and wonderful public servants all around us and I'm looking forward to helping with that."
