Glenview Approves Sale of former Naval Air Station Land for $22.3M

A one-story church and housing developments are planned for the 41 acres of land at the northwest corner of West Lake Avenue and Shermer Road.

Glenview officials gave the green light to sell 41 acres of former Glenview Naval Air Station land for redevelopment for a total of $22.3 million to Willow Creek Community Church in Northfield and Glenview-based Edward R. James Partners, Chicago Tribune reported.

Willow Creek Community Church purchased 12 acres on the southern part of the property and plans to build a one-story, 75,000-square-foot building then relocate the church from Northfield to Glenview. While the real estate company purchased the remaining 29 acres and hopes to build a total of 171 housing units—35 single-family villas, 68 town homes and 68 row homes—on the property, Chicago Tribune reported.
