Glenview Board Approves Dunkin' Donuts at Shermer and Wilson

Residents worry the new business will add more traffic to an already busy intersection.

Add Dunkin' Donuts to the businesses popping up at the intersection of Shermer and Willow roads.

With a 5-1 vote, the Glenview Board of Trustees approved the doughnut shop Tuesday, July 1, despite residents' concerns that the addition will cause more congestion at one of the village's busiest intersections, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Officials say the new Dunkin' Donuts will be open 24 hours daily and add about 90 new car trips to the intersection, the report stated. That area is already set to receive more congestion because of the new Willow Creek Community Church campus and about 171 single-family homes being built south of the intersection, according to the Tribune.

Traffic consultants, however, said the new Dunkin' Donuts would not greatly increase the congestion level at the intersection, the report added.
