Glenview Gears Up For Snowfall

Public Works says it can handle up to 15 inches of snow before working with a private contractor.

In light of , Glenview is readying its snow plowing troops for the New Year winter. 

The village has "48 pieces of equipment primed and ready for the first significant snowfall," according to Journal Topics

The Journal reports that the equipment includes: 17 large dump trucks, two front-end loaders, two backhoe loaders, one large snow blower, four sidewalk plows and other materials. 

Jerry Burke, director of the Glenview Public Works Dept., told the paper that the village can handle up to 15 inches of snow before reaching out to private contractors for assistance.

These ramp up efforts follow a nearly $400,000 removal cost during February 2011's historic snowfall. Roughly 75 percent of those expenses, however were announced to be reimbursed by .
