Glenview Moves Forward with Creating Zoning Category for Car Dealers

Glenview's Plan Commission will continue discussing the proposal at the Aug. 13 meeting, Chicago Tribune reports.

Glenview’s Plan Commission recently recommended moving forward with a proposal to create a zoning category for car dealerships and rental offices, which would standardize operating hours and relax landscaping requirements, Chicago Tribune reports.

Village officials say they decided to write the amendment after many dealerships sought exceptions from zoning ordinances that didn’t fit their business needs, such as the village’s current code requiring car dealerships to have parking spaces at the standard 9-foot-by-16-foot size, even though cars on display require less space--the amendment could allow dealerships to display more cars on their lots, the newspaper reported.
