Glenview Noise Ordinance Changes Come Before Board Next Week

The amendment's goal is to make the noise ordinance more enforceable.

The following is from the Village of Glenview:

The Village Board of Trustees is considering new language to clarify existing noise ordinance requirements.

The amendment to the Municipal Code is intended to put into writing current community activities -- such as use of snow plows, snow blowers, garbage pick-up and church bells -- that would be exempted from noise requirements and activities -- such as landscape maintenance and emergency generator use -- that would be exempted during specific time periods. The aim is to make the noise ordinance enforceable; no new provisions are being enacted.

Public hearings were held during the Plan Commission's review, and the Village Board heard its recommendation on April 1. The Board is to consider adopting the amendment on Thursday, April 17, (note the date change). The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 1225 Waukegan Road.
