New Glenview Church Going Under Review

The Willow Creek Community Church and ER James Partners have purchased former Navy land to develop a church and housing near West Lake Ave. and Shermer Rd.

The Glenview Plan Commission's review of two developments proposed for 41 acres at the northwest corner of West Lake Avenue and Shermer Road — known as Parcel 24 — has been delayed until Tuesday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m.

The Plan Commission will not take up the case on June 25 as had been originally scheduled, according to a Village of Glenview newsletter.

The Village Board in April authorized the sale of the former Navy land to Willow Creek Community Church and ER James Partners.

Willow Creek intends to build a one-story, 75,000-square-foot worship facility on about 12 acres on the south end of the parcel, and ER wants to build 171 residential units on nearly 30 acres.

Both prospective buyers requested that the Plan Commission delay the start of its review until July 9, following a June 17 meeting with neighboring property owners.

The church believes it would be best to meet with neighbors again to further discuss their concerns and suggestions, so that the church can consider modifying its plans prior to appearing before the Plan Commission.
