Niles Continues Lawsuit Against Glenview

The ongoing water dispute between the villages over unpaid water bills will continue, despite a Cook County judge's recent ruling in Glenview's favor.

Despite a Cook County judge's recent ruling in favor of Glenview in the ongoing water dispute with neighboring Niles, the Niles Herald-Spectator reports Niles will still pursue Glenview in court over $9.3 million in unpaid water bills.

Patch previously reported that Niles issued a statement saying the Village of Glenview owes Niles more than $4 million in unpaid water bills and interest. It's also asking for $1.84 million in punitive damages from Glenview for what is termed as "fraudulently misrepresenting the reasons it refuses to pay the bills."

Glenview maintained that Niles violated the villages' water agreement by providing Niles residents with water for less than what they were charging Glenview — the intial water suppy agreement was to provide Glenview with the lowest rate of any Niles water customer.
