Schakowsky Raises More Than $200K for 9th District Reelection Bid

Dold, Schneider, Sheyman all report fundraising efforts in 10th District.

raised $202,416 for her 2012 reelection effort for the quarter ending July 30, according to a report filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). 

As a result of the signed into law last month by Gov. Patrick Quinn, Schakowsky’s 9th Congressional District will now include all of Winnetka and Kenilworth as well as large parts of Glenview, Wilmette and Northbrook. 

In the neighboring 10th Congressional District, which lies to the north of the 9th, and two of his potential Democratic challengers—and — have disclosed the results of their fundraising efforts.

Only Schakowsky has filed her FEC report, due today. The U.S. representative collected her money from 498 contributors for an average of $406.46 per donor. Schakowsky has gleaned $455,706 since the current election cycle began late last year and has $368,583.63 cash on hand. 

No one has indicated their intention to challenge Schakowsky at this point.

Dold disclosed raising $541,330 for the quarter Tuesday. Though his Kenilworth home now lies in Schakowsky’s district, he has said he will  where approximately 70 percent of his current constituents live. 

Schneider, a Deerfield management consultant, said he collected $321,085 Monday. Sheyman, a community organizer from Waukegan, announced July 1 he took in nearly $110,000. A third candidate, Wheeling lawyer Robert McKenzie, has neither disclosed his totals nor filed his report.

, who was mulling a bid for the Democratic nomination to oppose Dold, said in a news release today she would run for reelection to the General Assembly.
