The Shermer Road Bridge, south of Willow Road is slated to reopen in September 2014, Glenview Announcement reported.
A new railroad bridge to replace the viaduct that collapsed in 2012 over Shermer Road could be in place by the end of the this year, under an expedited schedule recently released by Union Pacific Railroad.
Shermer Road beneath the collapsed Union Pacific bridge is planned to be fully repaired no later than September 30, 2014.
On July 4, 2012, a Union Pacific freight train hauling coal from Wyoming to Wisconsin derailed on a viaduct over Shermer Road, between Willow Road and Holste Road in Glenview. The viaduct collapsed and killed Glenview residents Burt Lindner and his wife Zorine, according to the village.
